Chad – Speaking
- Learn to speak in a “sharing tone” versus “what you should think”. Express things in personal experience (opinion), not in Universally accepted fact
- Listening to make the people feel heard, nodding, repeat back what is heard so that people feel more heard and validated in its opinion
Chad Opinion
- 7:30 timeslot – Freestyle and Swing I
- 8:30 timeslot – Swing II and Beginner
- Swing I people can take Swing II if they are more advanced or Beginner if they feel behind
- Classes should have more actual moves taught, more months in rotation.
- Mini-private – 20 minute lesson for free
Ben Opinion
- A number of students are beginning to get bored
- Focus on Lindy versus East Coast 6 count
- Beginner Class, each week teach basic footwork and then rotate moves
- Lindy I (replacing Swing I) stays in Lindy basic
- Lindy II (replacing Swing II) stay geared towards Lindy and Charleston
- Adoption of Austin Curriculum
Jennie Opinion
- Austin Curriculum is universally accepted so we should adopt it to avoid further growing pains
- Agreeing with Chad’s time switch
Amelia Opinion
- Agree with Chad’s time switch
- Would like to push for turning away people from class who arrive late or miss multiple weeks
- Advertising for classes with a preference to Swing II
- Concerns about teaching multiple moves in Beginner
- Need more moves – Swing II
Andrea Opinion
- Rename classes to Lindy I and Lindy II
- Beginner Class stays in 6 count and switches out moves
- Defined Prerequisites, instructors discretion
- We don’t have as much time
Femi Opinion
- Beginner class is good
- Agree with Chad’s Time Switch
Jack Opinion
- Beginner class rotating moves would help people stay in the class if they needed
- Maybe an Intermediate class that repeated (non-progressive)
- Chad’s Time Switch
Jess Opinion
- Austin Curriculum adoption, but we need someone from Austin teach it to us
- Instructor training is needed, voice projection, slowing talk
- Different counting, rhythms
- Refine basics
Raleigh Opinion
- Sunday night could use more focused lessons (e.g. Balboa, Charleston, etc.)
- Move lessons to 7pm, 8pm, social @ 9 – 11pm
Amber Opinion
- Chad’s Time Switch
- Varied Beginner lessons
- Focus on Lindy Hop
- Requirements (prerequisites for classes) need to be defined
- Swing I needs to have triple steps and rock steps done
- Swing II needs to be able to execute the Lindy Swing Out without thinking
- Define move names
- Instructor training (projection, volume, pace)
