Mike Roberts

Mike has been dancing Lindy Hop and associated dances including Charleston, East Coast Swing and Blues since 2000. He started teaching locally in 2001 and has been teaching on an international level since 2008. Over the years, Mike has traveled the United States and Europe attending workshops and competitions, honing his craft. Mike now regularly manages the monumental undertaking of being both an international dance instructor and a full time worker. His wife is very impressed with him.
He has established himself as a leader in the Austin Lindy Hop community, teaching and serving on the Austin Swing Syndicate board of directors. He currently co-owns a dance company, The Lindy Project with Laura Glaess and Scott Angelius. He strives to create a fun and exciting environment in his classroom and at the Syndicate’s weekly dances. No matter how much technique you have, if you’re not having fun with it, there’s no point.
Joanna Lucero

Joanna didn’t manage to find her way to lindy hop in the small town known as New York City, where she grew up. Instead, she came across the dance in the thriving metropolis of Rochester, NY where she attended college. It took her three years to find the school swing club but you know what they say — the best things in life are worth waiting for.
She was hooked from the first swing-out. Having already had a background in ballet, tap, and partnered social dance of the latin variety, she picked the basics up pretty quickly and then… practice, practice, practice. Her dancing developed primarily from social dancing, traveling to workshops, and exchanging ideas with fellow lindy addicts. When she dances, Joanna is a tiny bundle of energy. She finds her joy in the music. And as a teacher, she strives to help her students do the same.

Friends
Brooks Prumo
Brooks started lindy hopping in 2005 in Albany NY during college. He then began his quest for the "perfect" swingout, living in Erie, PA …then in Cleveland, OH …then in Boston, MA …then in Atlanta, GA …then in San Francisco CA …and now in Austin TX. Basically, Brooks has lived and danced in many different cities, which has exposed him to many different styles and techniques. However, the quest continues…
Now a-days, Brooks is often seen dancing to jazz music, teaching how to dance to jazz music, listening to jazz music, trying to find new jazz music, or playing jazz music. He really likes jazz music.
Brooks enjoys focusing on the 'boom-ka-cha' of the music and dance, in addition to a connection with his partner and the music.
Ben Luhrman
Ben Luhrman has been DJing swing events in San Antonio for the past five years. His inspiration and music choices come from his father and grandfathers’ love of vintage jazz greats. Ben has been listening to artists such as Jelly Roll Morton, Artie Shaw, Lu Watters, Turk Murphy, and The New Orleans Rhythm Kings since he was a very young boy. His appreciation for quality, danceable tunes makes him a versatile DJ. Ben believes that he can help spread the joy of lindy hop and jazz through his DJing.
